At Vitex Extrusion we like to provide our customers with complete
information and accessible resources. On this page you will find
accurate descriptions of our alloy
selection, a mechanical
property limits chart and decimal
equivalency chart. We've also provided some useful
links to interesting and informative sites. Please let us know
if there is anything else you would like to see here. We are always
looking to improve our service to meet your needs.

| Alloy Selection |
|
| 6005 |
Mechanical properties similar to 6061. Used in structural applications
with a better anodizing finish. |
| 6060 |
Maximum extrudability particularly for hollow sections and other
complex shapes having thin walls. 6060-T61 having mechanical
properties which are equivalent to 6063-T6 minimal, makes it
suitable for a wide range of applications for which 6063 would
normally be used. Extruded shapes have good surface finish and
the alloy responds well to all post-extrusion finishing processes. |
| 6061 |
Most versatile of heat-treatable group. Will take considerable
forming in the T4 condition. Good corrosion resistance. Used in
transportation and structural application. |
| 6063 |
The
most popular extrusion alloy. Takes a good surface finish, is
corrosion resistant and can be heat-treated for strength. |
| 6082 |
High
strength suitable for applications such as general structures,
road vehicles, railway cars, and ships, as well as, pipelines for air,
water and oil. Higher mechanical properties than 6061 with good
post weld recovery. |
| 6101 |
High strength bus conductors, good extrudability, weldability as
well as good resistance to stress corrosion cracking. |
| 6351 |
Mechanical properties similar to 6061. Used in structural applications.
Will take considerable forming in the T4 condition. Good
corrosion resistance and offers good fatigue and impact properties.
Used in transportation and general structures. |
| 6463 |
Designed
to accept a bright finish through anodizing or polishing.
Decorative trim applications. |
